Carols Around Lymm - 2021

‘Carols at the Cross’ is a long-standing Lymm tradition hosted by Lymm Parish Council. Several thousand people usually gather in the Village Centre on Christmas Eve to sing carols and traditional Christmas songs accompanied by Warrington Brass.

Last year the Covid-19 pandemic unfortunately made the traditional event impossible, so the Parish Council worked with Lymm Radio to create a virtual event so that the community could come together safely.

This year we’re happy to say that the Carols returns to the village cross between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm on Christmas Eve. We are also working with Lymm Radio who we anticipate will broadcast the event live for the benefit of those at home or further afield.

Please note: Plans are subject to change depending on Government guidance for social distancing and community events.

How it will work this year:

  • The Carols will be starting at 7.00pm at Lymm Cross and also broadcast on LymmRadio.
  • The event typically lasts for 1 hour, finishing at 8pm.
  • The main road through Lymm will be closed for traffic, with diversions put in place.
  • You are also invited to sing along at home, on doorsteps or in your garden and join in through LymmRadio.
  • The words for the carols are available for download on this page (big green button below) and also lyrics for each carol will be displayed on this web site in turn to allow people to sing, reading the words straight from their phones or tablets.
  • You will be able to listen to LymmRadio directly within this webpage so you can listen in and read along with the words all in the same place!
  • Share photos of you and your street singing on Twitter and Facebook with hashtag #LymmCarols2021.

We hope that this year’s hybrid ‘Carols at the Cross’ and on LymmRadio will bring the community together in our traditional way and provide a way for all to be able to join in, whether you choose to join in in the village or at home.
